Supreme Court Sides with Downer Meat

In what the Humane Society of the United States is calling a 'deeply troubling decision,' the U.S. Supreme Court has sided with the pork industry and struck down California's law which previously prevented the buying, selling and slaughtering of downer cattle, pigs, sheep and goats.  A downer animal is an animal that is too sick to stand on its own.   Now meat from these sick animals will be legally allowed into the nation's food supply.
